Not all words are suitable for phonics instruction! We work with our team of literacy experts to identify which are best suited to teach and only included these.
So what makes a word unsuitable?
Some contain too many syllables to break down into individual phonemes in an easy-to-follow way, while others have tricky, irregular spellings. Some had meanings that we felt were not appropriate for children to pronounce aloud without the context of the illustration.
Overall, our goal is to include key phonemes without causing cognitive overload to children!
